Hey guys! Unfortunately I did not get the chance to make a bracelet or necklace this week. I've been so busy with work and lacrosse. My team made it into the playoffs for the first time in five years! So, now we play Hamilton on Friday. It's gunna be a tough game. Hamilton's the best in my league and seated second best over all the division three teams. If we all play 100% it is possible to win though. Wish me luck!
I have been crammed with work for weeks. It's terrible. I haven't stopped working. I need summer to come so badly. It's almost here!!!!! No more work, no class, and so much time in the sun! can't wait.
Since Tuesday is the last day of class I will probably have more time this week than I did last week. I plan to make at least one maybe two v-stitch bright bracelets. Since my other ones are getting a little dull from last summer, I think I need to make new ones. The problem is I don't have much bright string left. I just have green. So i'll probably make a bright green and white bracelet. Either that or a bright green and black bracelet. Not sure yet. What do you guys think? Which would look better? wellll I gotta run to class now! I have beginning weight training. Gotta get all toned for bathing suit season!!
Making a bracelet, necklace, ankle bracelet, and more is a great way to get busy! In this blog you will learn all the different kinds of jewelry you can make out of string and beads.

Matching bracelet!
Hey guys! Today, April 26 it is finally warm and sunny outside in Saratoga! After two weeks of rain and cold weather, it is about time!
This week I have decided to create a bracelet to match last weeks necklace. This is mostly because I some extra string and beads that were used on the last necklace. I used one pink bead, one green bead, and two black beads. I evenly spread them out throughout the bracelet with stitches in between. In order to give this bracelet the ability to come off without cutting it, I tied a big knot at the end that fits right through a hole on the other end. This makes it easy to take off and put on without needed a pair of sizers. I can't wait to give all the bracelets and necklaces I made to my younger cousins!
There's only one more week of school left. Then one week of finals. Then, I get to go home and give my cousins the cool stuff I made. They're going to love it!

Hey guys. I apologize in advance for not being very enthusiastic. This rainy weather is bringing me down. It is already April 20th and its suppose to only get to a high of 55 and be rainy all week. Everyone is so sick of it. Hopefully next week it will be warm and sunny. Next week is funday, which is an event when everyone goes out on the green all day and plays games and socializes. I am so lucky I get to attend. Usually the lacrosse players have a game and can not make it. The seniors on my team say they have never been to funday. I'm a freshman and I get to go! It's a lucky year.
Anyway, Since it has been so rainy I decided to make a bracelet and even a necklace to match this week to cheer myself up! I wasn't in the mood for bright colors due to the lack of sunshine outside, but I used these cool faded color beads ad hemp string, which is a tanish color string. As you can see in the picture above I used some black smaller beads and alternated them with bigger more colorful beads. I used green, black, blue, and pink colored beads. I made a necklace, but I made it too small to fit my neck. Fortunately, I have younger cousins with smaller necks that would love to have it! It even has a gray bead at the end of the necklace so it can be taken off and on without being cut. This is great for when my cousin has athletic games and cannot wear any form of jewelry. She can wear it whenever she wants and take it off without ruining it!
My plan was to go home this weekend for Easter, but unfortunately I cannot anymore due to the great amount of work my professors have given me this weekend. My cousin will have to wait to receive the necklace.

hey guys! If you didn't see I posted a picture of the bracelet I made last week with the shells, and a picture of the one I made this week. The top one is the one from last week, and the bottom is this weeks bracelet.
Usually I get all my string at Micheal's Art's and Crafts near home on Long Island. There doesn't seem to be one of those around here. Or at least not that I now of. Since I don't have a car up at Skidmore I don't have much of a chance to explore. Good thing there isn't much time left of school because I'm running out of string! I have a lot of different color greens so I decided to use them on this weeks bracelet.
I you look back at my older posts I posted some of the same sort of bracelets. It's what I call the V stitch. I used four different colors of green and doubled them so the bracelets made out of eight strings, two of each color. I'm thinkin I'm going to give it to my family friend because she loves the color green. Anyway I got class now. It's time to take a test!

spring time!!!!!
Finally it's spring! yayyyy. I'm still not completely satisfied with the temperature but it's getting there! kind of. The weather forecast says we are suppose to get snow tomorrow night unfortunately, but the rest of the week it will around 50 as the high.
This week I decided to make a bracelet more on the spring side. It has blue beads and shells! although right now is not the time I would start wearing a bracelet that included shells, I made it to make myself feel better about the miserable weather we have been having up here at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Today it actually snowed. The first day of april it snowed. Unbelievable.
Well anyway, in order to not feel so down due to the weather, I made a bracelet to cheer myself up, even though the bracelets I made will probably not be worn for a few weeks, maybe months. The shell bracelet happens to be an ankle bracelet so it has to be worn when it is not pants weather anymore. However, I also made a bracelet just made with white string, which can be worn on my wrist. It turn out to be as cool as I thought it would be. Now I know to just not make another.

Beads!
The first bracelet I made was using lettered beads. I put my name into a bracelet. Although this kind of bracelet is usually for people of younger ages, I thought it would be fun. I'm not really sure if I would ever wear it, but I like to collect different bracelets just to have and look at them. I simply choose hemp, which is a tan colored string. It's very different from my colored bracelets. Some people think it's boring and dull, but I like to change it up sometimes.
Instead of choosing colored string to make my second bracelet of the week I decided to choose white string and get creative with beads! It was no special occasion this time. I just made it for fun. I choose to use white string and then I decided to use blueish/purpleish colored beads. Every other stitch I added on a bead, so the bracelet is mostly made of beads. I wouldn't usually wear this bracelet during the winter, but it's a good bracelet to ear in the spring and summer. Since I really want spring to come, I decided this would make me in a better mood and get me ready for it! I am in love with the beads I used because there a unique color. There not really just one solid color. They kind of change colors from blue to purple to even pink depending on the angle you look at it. It would look really cool in the sun. The white string also gives it a more summer/spring look to it. It really puts me in the mood. I am so ready for spring to come. I think it's time all the snow disappears and for the sun to come out! There were many other beads I could of chosen. I have really cool hot pink and hot green beats that I'm thinking about making for my next bracelet. I was thinking about making the bracelet twice as long so that it can be doubled up and look like two bracelets since that's what's in style these days. I may make them for my cousins. Not exactly sure yet.

Hey guys! This weeks blog will show you pictures of my bracelets! The three bracelets that I have posted are my three favorites. Two of them I used the V stitch. And the other one I don't have a name for because I completely made it up at the time when I was making it. I like to be creative sometimes, so I improvise. In other words I start off with as many strings as I'd like. This could be 6 or 10 or even 20. You have to use an even number of strings If you'd like to make the bracelet se metrical. After I choose my strings I just start going. Usually start with V shaped pattern and then I left space in the center and the combined it after a few stitches. This probably makes no sense to you, but if you look at the one to the right close enough you will be able to see. It's a bit complicated at first, but then it gets real simple. The other two bracelets are made out of neon colored string. That's what I like best about them. It's unfortunate that I haven't been able to buy those strings in a while. They don't seem to be selling them anymore. Maybe if i search online I can order them. It's pretty annoying.
Well anyway, my friend has asked me to make a bracelet for him. He probably doesn't want bright pinks, purples, or yellows. I was thinking maybe green, blue, and black. That's what my boy cousin wanted anyway. So, maybe I'll just make two of them. Then I'll post them up next week after they're made no worries.
Oh yea. If you don't see the picture's right away that is because they are going to be posted up later tonight!:)

You'd be surprised how many kinds of bracelets can be made out of string!
So, this week I've been working on a few bracelets for my cousin, Amelia, because it was her 5th birthday on Monday. It's a simple stitch and includes light pink string and dark pink string. It's the stitch that is usually used when people make hemp necklaces or bracelets. I decided to get creative and use colored string because I know that's what Amelia would rather. Since this took only a short period of time to make because Amelia's wrist is so small, I made another bracelet. This one is made out of white string and blue/purple beads. I added a bead every other stitch so the bracelet is mostly made out of beads. These bracelets are usually worn during the summer, but I know my five year old cousin would wear them any time of the year. Giving these bracelets to Amelia made my other cousin, her sister, Eliza, a bit jealous. So, I told her she would have two bracelets and maybe even a necklace for her birthday.
I'm not positive which kind of bracelet I am going to make Eliza, but I should think of one soon because I know that will be my next task. You'd be surprised how many different kinds of bracelets that can be made out of string. I'll post a picture of several different kinds once I figure out how to. I've made hemp bracelets and necklaces with shells and beads stitched into them. It really makes each bracelet and necklace look extremely different from one another by adding different kinds of beads and shells with different colored string. I've even made a bracelet with string stitched around a plastic mold. However, this came in a kit. You may have seen them before. There one of my favorites, but they take a long time to make. I'd say a total of 12 hours. Whereas the others range from 30 minutes to 5 hours depending how thick and the long the bracelet/necklace is.

Do you ever feel bored or stressed? Well, making a bracelet out of string is one great way to get busy and de-stress! First you must pick the colors you desire. You may think bracelets made out of string are just worn during the summer, which a lot of the time they are. Well, there are many kinds of bracelets you can make that can be worn during the winter and fall also. You may just make these not as bright in color. For instance, instead of choosing neon colors and bright beads, you have the option of using darker colors or even hemp, which is a tan string that isn't as soft as other string and a bit thicker.
Not only do you have the choice of colors for your bracelet, but you can also choose how thick or thin you'd like it to be, and what type of pattern you'd like. People go usually as thick as 20 strings and as thin as 3. Personally, I like to make ones with 12 strings usually. You have multiple types of pattern options as well. You can make the usual, plain one that goes on a diagonal, the V pattern, or you can make up a pattern (I like to call this freestyle). Within this blog you will learn all about the different types of bracelets, ankle bracelets, and necklaces that can be made out of string and beads.
